Session Description

As we work to create more equity in our organizations the push in that direction will always generate some “pushback.” In this session, we’ll review current approaches for pushing toward more equitable sourcing and the resulting pushback that you will experience. We’ll invite you to face the reality that you can simultaneously be the “push” AND the “pushback,” and why that is, given that we are a part of the very systems that we are trying to transform. Finally, we will discuss how we show up in integrity as you work toward more equity.

We’ll cover these challenging dynamics around sourcing presented by:

• How equity works simultaneously in three dimensions of time: past, present, and future

• Specific ways that telling the truth creates obstacles

• The two sources of tension for leaders that Michelle MiJung Kim names in her book, The Wake Up: Closing the Gap Between Good Intentions and Real Change

• What it looks like to stay in integrity when you are living within a system that you are trying to change

Session Description

How to meet and disrupt the current “way of being” and shift it toward more equity. How to build the capacity to remain grounded, effective, and in integrity. Specific to the topic of sourcing we will outline how to build the emotional capacity that it takes to embody the complexity associated with “and” thinking versus “or” thinking, to stand in the fire, and hold all of it. We’ll share strategies for energy management so that you can remain in integrity by keeping the outcome of equity ever-present, constantly re-aligning yourself and others, and continually recovering in both action and energy.

Related to sourcing, we’ll cover how the Audacious Leadership™️ framework can support you in:

• Determining with what, with whom, and how you are in integrity

• Cultivating mindsets and techniques for calling in your power so that you can be most effective in the moments that you need to be

• Continuing to operate in the “stretch” zone and avoid complacency and being complicit with systemic oppression.

In this session, we’ll highlight some of the narratives that you will experience in the “push” and the “pushback” -- what you will tell yourself and what you will hear from others. The alternatives to these limiting beliefs that we’d like you to tell yours and others when they arise.

We’ll highlight these language issues so that you can be more intentional and empowered:

• How to determine the most likely level of risk in a situation versus what you are telling yourself or being told.

• How to discuss the past, present, and future of equity and their interdependence

• Specific phrases you can use when you encounter limiting narratives
