A live webinar series about The serious business of SYSTEMIC OPPRESSION and corporate America.
Registration Now Open for ▶ Season two: Talent sourcing
About the Series
Most leaders are not trying to create inequitable organizations, however, they are not aware of the “good business” decisions that they make every day that contribute to both the upholding and perpetuation of systemic inequity.
The purpose of this series is to position leaders to more effectively recognize & understand the complexities of and confront systemic oppression.
By both isolating (clarify) and showing the relationship (complexity) between three fundamental aspects of systemic oppression, this series will enhance the confidence that leaders have to discern and operationalize more effective paths toward more equitable organizations.
Season Two
Welcome to Season 2 of Work. In Progress. We continue to look directly at the core issues and challenges related to disrupting systemic oppression through the lenses of the system, audacious leadership, and language.
Let’s talk about Talent Sourcing
This season, our focus is on sourcing talent from historically excluded and marginalized identities. We have observed that even with the elevated effort that companies are making toward filling their pipelines with candidates with more diverse identities and lived experience, we are still hearing the same complaints regarding the ability to make a real impact in locating and hiring these candidates. In season 2, we will examine the real and imagined barriers that exist to sourcing, what is required of leaders to effectively navigate these challenges, and what are the narratives and language that you’re likely to hear and need to reframe for yourself and others to truly shift the negative impact of centuries of socialization that permeate this discussion. As always, we are leaning into the nuance and complexity related to this arena, so that we are all in a better position to be effective in disrupting systemic inequity everywhere we encounter it.
Webinars
Session One / 02.04.22
Seeing the System at Work
In this session, we’ll review current approaches for pushing toward more equitable talent sourcing and the resulting pushback that you will inevitably experience. We’ll invite you to face the reality that you can simultaneously be the “push” AND the “pushback,” and why that is.
Session Two / 03.04.22
Embracing Audacious Leadership
Specific to the topic of sourcing, we will outline how to build the emotional and strategic capacity that it takes to embody the complexity associated with “and” thinking versus “or” thinking, to stand in the fire, and hold all of it. We’ll share strategies for energy management so that you can remain in integrity by keeping the outcome of equity ever-present, constantly re-aligning yourself and others, and continually recovering in both action and energy.
Session Three / 04.01.22
Owning the Power of My Language
In this session, we will discuss the narratives that you will experience in the “push” and the “push back” – what you will tell yourself and what you will hear from others. We’ll also explore the alternatives to these limiting beliefs that we’d like you to tell yourself and others when they arise.
Action Labs
For those looking for a deeper, guided dialogue to pair with their Webinars, register for the interactive action labs where we guide you through questions, processes, and personal capacity building exercises that accelerate the specific equity and inclusion work that you are doing within your organization.
